RPD Thief Buster Alert! We heard from a very nice local woman this afternoon that her "grandson" had called her after being "injured" in a "car crash" earlier today in Mexico. He wanted money sent to him immediately because he was in the "hospital." She found it odd that her grandson was... a) in Mexico, b) for some reason didn't know his own name, and c) called from a number marked "private." It was obviously a scam. She didn't give him any information and hung up. We call this the "grandparents" scam so be aware that the crooks might be using it here in our area. If you get a similar phone call be calm and just hang up.
